There are numerous health risks associated with prolonged technology use. A major one being eye strain, prolonged viewing of a screen can result in eye strain, with common symptoms of headaches, eye discomfort, and blurred vision. Another serious effect of prolonged technology use is sleep disruption. The use of technology before bed can drastically damage melatonin production. This results in difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, which can greatly disrupt your day-to-day life.
I myself use technology too much and have experienced both of these pretty regularly. If I try to limit my technology usage after a certain time, I might mitigate its effect on my sleep. Also, if I reduce the session times that I'm using technology and just step away from time to time, I might be able to help myself there, too.
It is very important to manage your technology use as a part of being a responsible digital citizen; your own health is and should be at the forefront. Using technology in a way that is respectful to yourself and your health is the most responsible thing you can do regarding technology.
